In Memory of Susan Denise Atkins-Whitehouse
A Quote All Alone
The following is quoted from Susan's writings.
We have placed it separately from
the "To Quote Susan" chapter.
(We have bolded for emphasis) :
"...I was ashamed of that nine-month trial.
The crimes we were accused of
were horrible, brutal, the worst imaginable.
But what took place in the halls of justice
were also horrible and brutal.
It seems so obvious,
with the benefit of hindsight,
that on display were three young women
clearly not in their right minds
who were in slavish obedience to a madman.
Every defendant in the case
was mentally and spiritually sick, deeply ill.
We were not to be excused; we were guilty.
But we were desperately sick, legally so,
and all the authorities refused to acknowledge this.
We were treated as though we were intelligent, criminal masterminds"
From Child of Satan, Child of God
