In Memory of Susan Denise Atkins-Whitehouse
Good Luck To You,
Really...
As Susan's 1993 parole hearing
drew to it's conclusion,
the California Board of Prison Terms,
with the Presiding Commissioner speaking,
had informed Susan of their decision
to deny her request for freedom.
The board continued with their explanation
as to how they "arrived" at their decision.
They went on to advise Susan
of their recommendations
as to how she should continue on with her life.
Imagine, if you will,
3 people telling you how to live your life;
the 3 people who have judged you,
and found you faulty,
some of whom didn't know everything about you,
because it wasn't in their reference material!
The same people who judged you,
because it's their job.
After the Presiding Commissioner concluded his statement to Susan,
he queried the other two commissioners;
They had no further comments.
The Presiding Commissioner then made his final statement
to Susan;
Really...

Commissioner: "Okay, that'll conclude the hearing at 5:30.
There's a copy of the decision, and we want to wish you well"
Susan: "Thank you very much"
Commissioner: "Good luck to you"
