The First Year'
This is page 1 of Susan's book.
Susan made a statement within her introduction letter
that goes very well with a statement she made
some 6 years later, in the last page of her book,
the last paragraph.
Was this connection intentional?
We believe it was.
Susan's foresight was unparalleled.
The following quote is the last paragraph of
Letter 61, September 2002,
Susan's final Christian newsletter;
"Volunteer work and self help organizations enrich us all.
All over America, in every community there are
organizations that need volunteers to help.
I want to encourage you this month to get involved
in your community, if you are not already.
Be a mentor or a volunteer.
You can make a difference in the quality of life
for those less fortunate than yourself.
If women in prison can choose to make a difference
in their small community,
so can you"
Susan then signed off on her letter.

"Just as God didn't create me without a purpose,
so too, He made you for a purpose,
and placed within you
all the talents and gifts necessary
to fulfill your purpose"
