Before we read Susan's letter,
there is an Editor's note.
The note reads as follows-
"In December 2000,
Susan was denied parole at her 16th hearing before the
California Parole Board.
This decision and the procedures
used by the Board at the hearing were illegal,
but the State of California's Courts determined
parole board commissioners have absolute immunity
against liability for anything they do
regardless of the law or Constitution.
It was in the aftermath of this decision
that Susan returned to writing
the Dove's Nest Newsletters"

Susan begins her letter;
"January 2001
Dear Mel,
I want to take this opportunity to thank you all
for your thoughts, prayers, and letters of support
for my parole.
It is with grateful hearts to our Heavenly Father
that James and I went before the
Board of Prison Terms & Parole and were able to
present accurately to them my present state
of suitability for parole.
And though I am not yet at home in the natural,
in my heart, and in James' heart,
I'm home with him and the day will come
when I shall walk through the front gate
of this prison back into society,
there to proclaim the good news that Jesus is Lord of all"
Susan continued on in her letter to it's end.

Susan never walked through that front gate;
but she did soar over it,
and we follow on Susan's vapor trail
of hope and inspiration....
