In Memory of Susan Denise Atkins-Whitehouse
What Do WE Know
During Susan's 1993 parole hearing,
one of the Board of Prison Terms commissioners
had asked Susan how she met her husband,
so Susan explained.
During her explanation,
Susan mentioned that, after her first husband,
she didn't write any men for several years,
and Susan explained why.
Apparently the commissioner was unaware
Susan had been married before:

Commissioner: "...After your first marriage?"
Susan: "Yes"
Commissioner: "Oh so you were married before, then..."
Susan: "Yes"

Susan: "Yes"
The three Board of Prison Terms commissioners
who were hearing Susan's case
had lots of paperwork in front of them,
being their reference material.
But the commissioner who asked Susan about her marriage
was clearly unaware of Susan's first marriage.
Maybe the commissioner simply missed that paragraph in her paperwork,
or
maybe there wasn't anything about it in her material,
or
maybe you can just fill in any possibility you like.
It's curious that someone who is charged with the responsibility
of determining the future of another human being
would be unaware of an event
such as a marriage in that person's life.
A marriage is usually considered
to be an important event in a person's life.
It is also a legal contract.

We would think that anything in Susan's life
which was of a legal nature
would be known by those
who are deciding Susan's future.
We would think those
who are judging the future
of another human being would be aware of such a fact,
especially if it concerns
Susan Atkins;
