In Memory of Susan Denise Atkins-Whitehouse
Just Another Day
"Our charge here today is to determine
whether you are suitable for parole or not"
- Chair Commissioner,
California Board of Prison Terms,
Susan's parole hearing
California Institution for Women
Corona, California
January 20, 1993
The commissioner's statement is ludicrous.
The Board of Prison Terms determined nothing,
because they were charged with nothing.

The commissioner's statement is ludicrous.
The Board of Prison Terms determined nothing,
because they were charged with nothing.
Susan presented her case to the Board.
It was Susan's legal right to do so.
The Board went into the hearing
with the predetermined outcome before they even got started,
but still they sat as a 'Board',
wasting everyone's time,
including those who were present because it was their job.
The State of California had no intention
of ever granting Susan her freedom.
The commissioner stated they were there
to determine whether or not Susan was suitable for parole.
For The California Board of Prison Terms,
it was just another day.
Susan's parole was denied...
