In Memory of Susan Denise Atkins-Whitehouse
Breathtaking
The Sheriff's office
and Inyo County Jail in Independence, California
is where Susan was taken after her arrest.
This AP film clip is from December 1969.
We see the Inyo County Court House from across the street.
Closer to the courthouse,
there is little activity at the moment,
only a few people walking to and from the courthouse.

The film cuts to viewing from the
northeast side of the street a few blocks away.
To the southwest,
we see the town's post office and other structures,
as well as the mountain range behind in the distance.
The Sierra Nevada Mountains are breathtaking.
Rising in the distance,
the view is spectacular.
The summits are covered in snow.
We return to the Sheriff's office.
The Sheriff's office glass doors
has a hand written sign on it.
The sign reads
"TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
FOR SECURITY REASONS,
THE VISITING PRIVILEGE FOR ALL PRISONERS
IS SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!"
Susan's view at this time was not quite as spectacular...
