In Memory of Susan Denise Atkins-Whitehouse
To Be a Light
"...One of the most delicate,
and often most gratifying,
ministries I have been given
has been to young people -
ones just as I was,
the alienated,
the desperate,
the lost.
I receive an amazing amount of mail
from youths who still believe that we in the Manson family
did nothing wrong.
Despite all the horror that has been brought forth by us
and about us,
there are still angry, frustrated young people
who would join up with a Manson family in a minute
if that were possible.

I respond to every such letter,
praying with all my might that the Father
will touch these broken, smashed souls
and draw them to his Son as he did me.
Oftentimes, I am able to develop a running discussion
with these kids and have watched them go
step by step to conversion..."
"...For now,
God has me in this very dark place.
He has allowed me to be a light..."
