In Memory of Susan Denise Atkins-Whitehouse
Word Garbage
Susan was an author
whose writing style was an uncommon one,
in which Susan wrote succinctly.
This is especially evident in Susan's work
The Myth of Helter Skelter.
Whether it was intentional or not,
Susan did it well...
"...One poor decision leads to a situation where you are forced
to choose between two bad alternatives,
and that decision in turn
leads you deeper and deeper into a hole.
C.S. Lewis once said that the surest path to hell
is the slow, easy descent
with no sign-posts, no quick turns,
no indication that anything is wrong.
This is as important a lesson out of this story as anything"
(from The Myth of Helter Skelter
by Susan Atkins-Whitehouse)
One would expect, at first inquiry,
the subject matter of this work to require volumes.
It seems to be that way too,
if what's out there regarding the events of 1969,
'created' by others,
is any indication.
'Created' by those who were not part of those events.

Volumes were not necessary,
as is apparent in Susan's work.
The reader may be surprised at the clarity
and simplicity of it all.
After Susan explains it,
the reader could easily understand
why volumes become word garbage.
Susan could explain in a paragraph
what others took pages to attempt to.
The volumes are word garbage.
Susan attests to that in her style of writing.
Susan's flair for conciseness engrosses the reader.
It's something we admire.
It's something we miss terribly.
It saddens us there will be no new works from Susan,
but there will always be something new
to be learned from Susan.
The works that Susan did give us are there for those who want -
For that, we are grateful...
