In Memory of Susan Denise Atkins-Whitehouse
My friend,
A wonderful person who showed me a new light
in a time of deep sadness,
of which I saw no end,
and he blasted the darkness away,
so I could see the shining sun again.
I asked him for help.
He gave me that help,
taking time from his own life,
and I will treasure that forever.
He helped me to see and understand things
I never would have been able to,
had he not come to my rescue.
I am very privileged to have that understanding;
it will always remain sacred within me.
I honor my friend for that;
I always will.
The impact he had on me was beyond description;
I tried my best to tell him.
He also taught me,
she would probably feel some things were foolish and a waste of time.
I understood, but didn't necessarily agree.
I treasure their guidance; I am blessed to have it.
For me, it's not foolish, or a waste.
When we love someone, we want the whole world to know.
I believe my friend would be okay with it,
if he knew how important it was to me;
and I do believe he knows.
I say to my friend again, thank you.
You and yours are in my prayers,
always and forever.
To protect his privacy, I don't name him,
but he knows who he is.
My door is always open for you, my friend.
Maybe some day I can throw you some sunshine,
as you did me.
